HISTORY || Joanna Beth Harvelle was born on April 7,1985. Her father was a hunter and often traveled with John Winchester who was a fellow hunter. Her mother ran the Roadhouse which served as a base for the hunters. At a very young age, Jo was fascinated with the aspect of hunting and listened to all the stories she heard, from the hunters that stopped in, along with the ones her father told her. Wanting to be part of that life fascinated her to the point of hanging on every word that she heard at the Roadhouse. Her father had taught her how to shoot to the point of being almost as good as he was. Along with that she learned archery and any kind of weaponry that she could get her hands on. Her mother didn't like this and made a point to point this out on more than one occasion and hated the idea of Jo becoming just like her father. But sadly that life went on the back-burner when her father was killed while on a hunt with John Winchester, however she did not know this information until years later when her mother told her.
After the death of her father, Jo tried to get on with her life, but there was always a part of her that felt missing. She finished high school and at that time she was working at the Roadhouse to help her mother out with the business. She tried going to college, but dropped out much to her mother's disappointment where Jo pointedly stated that she didn't fit in and did not want to be marked as the freak with the knife collection. Still her mother refused to let her go out on her own and become a hunter when she knew there was so much more that Jo could do in her life than devoting it to hunting, which Jo despite her mother's warnings went ahead and did so anyway shortly after re-connecting with Sam and Dean Winchester. Without her mother knowing she snuck out and went on a hunt with them and wound up getting captured until Dean saved her life, but got in serious trouble by her mother who found out. Later she told Jo about how her father died, which greatly upset Jo.
However it did not stop her from going out on her own to do some hunting on her own, knowing that it was something that she wanted to do after spending half of her life hearing stories and wanted to try her hand at it herself. At each place she went, she sent a postcard to her mother to let her know she was alright, and where she was. Eventually her mother joined her and mother and daughter went hunting together, which was where they answered the call to help Sam and Dean retrieve the Colt and kill Lucifer. Jo sneaks into Crowley's mansion to retrieve the weapon and turns Dean down when he gives her the "Last Day on Earth" line. But Jo is mortally wounded after being attacked by a hell-hound on Meg's command. The group takes shelter in a hardware store and she makes the suggestion of making a bomb and using her as the bait. Her mother stays behind to let the dogs in and set off the bomb so Dean and Sam can escape. Jo dies in her mother's arms, who set off the bomb, killing them both and the hell-hounds.
